One thing to keep in mind if you are planning to photograph wading birds at J N Ding Darling is the timing of low tides. If you visit during high tide time; most probably you may not see any birds in most locations within the refuge. During low tide; wading birds such as Pelicans, Spoonbills, Snowy Egrets, Great White Egrets, White Ibis assemble in high numbers to get their catch. Photography becomes easier at low tide as the shallow water will attract more birds and close to the shore.
During my last visit, I was fortunate enough to see and photograph several snowy egrets and great egret busy catching stranded loads of fish in the backwater.
